Life’s Lessons from David
by: Pastor Norman Lao
1. Do not fail to remember your past experiences with God! When you remember your past experiences with God, how good he has been to you etc, problems will be easier to resolve! and you will have a lighter feeling. (1 Samuel 17:34)
always remember:
-before you were born again God was already working in you.
-failures make us wiser, keeps us humble and also failures make us more careful.
2. Do not be afraid of giants! (1 Samuel 17:45)
-If we live victoriously people will know that there is a real God in our church! People will not believe there is a God if Christians don’t live victoriously.
-The battle is the Lord’s! always remember that.
-During the time of David, the Israelites were afraid because they were looking at the size of Goliath but David was looking at the size of his God! If all your giants were combined God is still bigger!
-Perspective is important. How you look at things is your perspective and your perspective will be your attitude. The best perspective in all your giants is looking at God!
3. Do not take matters into your own hand, let God do it!
-Respect brothers and sisters, even those who are trying to hurt you.
(try to read 1 John 2:20-22)
-We were all bought with the same price
-Proverbs 24:17 says, “Do not let your heart rejoice when your enemy falls!”
-Do not lose sight of the fact that we are all children of God!
-Do not take revenge! His justice is more perfect than ours that’s why Jesus said, Love your enemies! Only Christians can love those who love them! and always remember, YOUR MINISTRY IS YOUR LIFE, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, THAT IS YOUR MINISTRY. THAT’S WHY BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR LIFE. Do not break your testimony!
4. Do not be afraid to fail
-Even great men in the bible failed.
-If you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, you will be doing what you’re not supposed to be doing! Do what you’re supposed to do! Be where you’re supposed to be! Be at the right place at the right time
-Do not listen to the devil, rebuke the devil
-Flee from the evil desires of youth
-David learned from his failure. After he asked for God’s forgiveness, he never repeated the same mistake ever again.
5. Do not hide your sins
-Confess your sins, renounce it! and ask God to help you to be stronger so you won’t be able to do it again!
-(read 2 Samuel 11:6-27, Hebrews 4:13, Proverbs 28:13 and Psalm 51)
David’s Song
Create in me a clean heart oh God and renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not away from thy presence oh Lord
and take not thy holy spirit from me
restore unto me the joy of my salvation
and renew a right spirit within me
